WISSS
What is Wisss ?
First of all, Wisss stands for Webapp is Stupid, Simple and Secure, or, if you want a recursive accronym : Wisss is Stupid, Simple and Secure.
Wisss deals with model driven engeneering (MDE), which seems to be a part of the future of software development. It aims to provide a meaningfull metamodel, a modeler for it and a first generator to Zend Framework.
Why Wisss ?
Wisss comes from a will to save time during development and use brain at full time. Till now, even if you code twice the same thing, you will lose time to copy/paste, adapt the code, define all links between business and technical logic or translate customer needs into functional and technical specification. The aim of MDE, and particularly Wisss, is to translate customers needs into models and then generate an application for a specific platform, with as much as possible features. Concerning Wisss, the goal is to be able to have a 100% generated application for simple requirements, and be able to generate a prototype for more complicated ones. It is intended to suppress sleepless night in the geek's life, only code functionnal requirements, in other words, what the customer wants you to do in the alloted time.
The other point of interest is that requirements may evolve during the project or we may want to refactor the business model. There isn't much heavy side effects with MDE since changes are propagated to the code automaticaly.
Who is behind Wisss
Wisss is supported by Makina Corpus, a free software company based in Paris and Nantes (FRANCE), and by contributors all over the world (well, one in the Netherland and one other in France)
